What is Google E-A-T?

Google E-A-T isn’t a trendy new restaurant review site or recipe generator. It’s Google’s set of criteria called E-A-T to decide which pages are the most trustworthy.

When you search for something on Google, you want to get reliable information that you can trust.

E-A-T stands for Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. Recently, an additional ‘E’ has been added to the criteria – ‘Experience’.

E-E-A-T defined

What is experience?

Experience is the first E in E-A-T It means that the quality of the information is evaluated based on whether the person who created it has actually experienced what they’re talking about.

What is expertise?

Expertise is the second E in E-A-T. It means the knowledge and experience of the person who created the content. This only applies to the person who created the content, not the website they posted it on.

What is authority?

Authority is the A in E-A-T. It means how well-known and respected the person who created the content is or how well-respected the website is.

What is trust?

Trust is the T in E-A-T, and it’s really important to Google. It means how much people can believe and rely on the information in the content, the author, or the website.

Role and influence of E-E-A-T on Google search

Google ranking is based on two things:

Relevance: This means how well a webpage matches the search query. A page is relevant if it meets the user’s search intent.

Quality (E-E-A-T): This refers to the overall quality of a website or its content.

E-E-A-T can affect the following areas of Google search:

  • Rankings in classic Google search
  • Rich snippet elements
  • Review/stars
  • FAQ snippets
  • Sitelinks
  • Featured snippets, if applicable
  • Display in Google Discover
  • Display in Google News
  • Indexing of content

How can I improve my website’s E-E-A-T?

If a website has high E-E-A-T rankings, it means Google thinks its content is trustworthy and accurate. This is especially important for topics like health or legal issues, where getting the wrong information could lead to adverse outcomes.

To improve E-E-A-T scores, website owners must ensure their website is well-designed, features quality content that demonstrates their expertise, and has relevant links from other reputable websites. They must also manage their online reputation by responding to reviews and addressing negative feedback.

So, if you’re a website owner, focusing on E-E-A-T can help you attract more visitors to your website, and if you’re a searcher, it can help you find more reliable information.
