Chat GPT: A copywriter’s perspective

If I had to sum up my first experience with Chat GPT in two words, it would be mind blowing! I couldn’t believe that an AI model could instantly generate content, answer complex questions, craft lyrics to a song, write recipes, and the list goes on (and on). Once the novelty wore off, my next thought was, what will this mean for me and the 100’s & 1000’s of copywriters around the globe?

After experimenting with Chat GPT over the past few weeks, I have concluded that there is absolutely still a need for copywriters of the (human) kind. While AI programs can take over some of the heavy lifting in generating content, they can’t replace what Google refers to as EAT (Expertise/experience, authority and trust). EAT is one of many guidelines Google uses to determine whether the content is valuable to readers and whether it should rank well.

Copywriters bring a wealth of experience, trusted opinions and personal touches to the content they create. So instead of running for the hills, here’s how I plan to embrace the future of AI language models like Chat GPT.

Generating ideas

Producing new content is challenging. It can involve hours of research, planning and pestering your colleagues for ideas. Chat GPT can be used to generate new ideas for copywriting projects. By inputting a prompt or topic into Chat GPT, you can receive a wide range of responses, which can be helpful in brainstorming ideas for ad copy, blog posts, or social media content.

Improving headlines

Click-bait is often considered a dirty word, but headlines are one of the most essential parts of any copy. If you struggle to construct the perfect attention-grabbing headings, enter your headline suggestion into Chat GPT and receive recommendations for improvements, such as stronger language, clearer messaging, or more impactful phrasing.

Enhancing product descriptions

Product descriptions are a key part of any e-commerce website, and Chat GPT can help copywriters enhance these descriptions by suggesting more vivid and engaging language.

Crafting social media content

Social media is an important channel for many brands, and Chat GPT can help copywriters craft more engaging social media posts. By inputting a topic or prompt, copywriters can receive language, tone, and messaging suggestions that will resonate with their target audience.

Generating blog post outlines

Chat GPT can generate outlines for blog posts, which can be a useful starting point for copywriters. Simply enter a topic or idea, and Chat GPT can provide a framework for the post, including key points to cover and suggested subheadings.

Adding supporting facts and figures

Save time scouring the web for supporting facts. You can use Chat GPT to provide additional quotes and references to validate your content. You can receive suggested statistics, data, and other supporting evidence by inputting keywords or phrases.

Give it a whirl

The world of AI is vast and fascinating, and Chat GPT is just the tip of the iceberg. But don’t just take my word for it – jump right in and see for yourself! With its user-friendly interface and powerful capabilities, Chat GPT allows you to generate high-quality content that’s tailored to your specific needs and audience. And with a little bit of creativity, you can add your personal touch to make your content truly unique and compelling.

Keep in mind that your audience is looking for content that’s both informative and engaging, so don’t be afraid to experiment and have fun with it! Whether you’re looking to solve a problem, entertain your readers, or simply answer a burning question, Chat GPT can help you achieve your goals and take your content to the next level. So what are you waiting for? Give it a try today and unleash the power of AI!
